Anything is possible.
I got acupuncture and electrical stimulation (which was super relaxing and helped unspasm my pelvic floor) and these herbs today. The lady has her Masters in Chinese Medicine and told me IC is curable. I took my first dose, and I feel pretty good so far.
*fingers crossed for Chinese medicine*

It has been 3 months since the surgery and my scar is starting to fade - yay!
I went for acupuncture treatment # 3 today - another phenomenal experience. Dr. Morganstein gave me a copy of the Dalai Lama Chant. He told me to listen to it when I am stressed out. I was stressed out listening to my mom talk to him about how I went through all this voodoo medical stuff. Why cant I just have an amazing support system? Some of my friends are amazing - but I’ve seen parents who set up blogs for their kids and they say they KNOW their child is going to be just fine and cured.
Here is this history behind the chant:
The recording of the Dalai Lama Chanting is ancient mantra from the Rig Veda “Maha Mtriyunjaya” mantra which was recorded by one of the disciples, with the Dalai lama’s permission. At first the Dalai lama refused to release it, but then agreed, saying that it must never be sold, it can only be given. This is a healing and nourishing mantra and in sense, “The heart of the Vedas.” The healing force awakened by the mantra sends froth its ripple from body to psyche and from the psyche to the soul. It strengthens our power of will, knowledge and action, thus unblocking the flow of enthusiasm, courage and determination. The vibration of the mantra awakens the internal healing force while attracting nature’s healing agents, creating an environment where the forces from both origins converge. This mantra connects us to the healer within and helps us receive to full nourishment from food, herbs or any discipline undertaken for our total wellbeing.
My soul is feeling positively recharged tonight n__n I spent this afternoon at my first ever acupuncture session & by god it was fucking amazing! She stuck a little baby needle in between my eyes, one on the crown of my head, one on my chest, my hand and my foot, then about another 9 all over my…
Just went to have acupuncture and it was so scary!! I have a ‘winged shoulder blade’ which means it’s basically poking out of my back and causing tension all over my right side of my body.
She put two needles in the top of my neck, two in my shoulder blades (It felt weird cos I could feel them going through the muscle) and then two in my hands to increase serotonin and relax the body (which it did)
I didn’t feel any pain at all. I was expecting it to ache or hurt but it felt so good! Like, the tension just melted away and I was in such a relaxed state! It kind of pricks at first when it goes in and I’m such a baby with that sort of thing normally but because the lady was so calm and lovely I wasn’t that worried, and it didn’t hurt, she was chatting to me about my course at Uni and by the time I realised I had had them in for 10 minutes and had to take them out! (That was the weird part) because apparently the muscle, if tense, latched onto the needle and like, grabs it, so the sensation of them being taken out was weird but again, nothing I wouldn’t do again!
I have some exercises to do to put my shoulder blade in place but yeah I’m very happy with it all!
If you know me either personally or even just here on Facebook, you’ve probably already heard me whining about my back problems.
I have slipped discs and a damaged cocyx. The injury itself is about 5 years old, though I only got it diagnosed last December after the pain had gotten to a…

Dr. Li is a short, smiley Chinese man who moves quickly and silently. He sits me down in his small office.
“Tell me how I can help you.”
His English is good but his accent is thick.
“I was diagnosed with MS last year. I have some left-sided weakness….”
“Here’s what I know about MS,” he interrupts. “It is caused by inflammation, especially in your gut. You need to avoid dairy, raw vegetables, beans, seeds, nuts, brown rice and drinks with bubbles. You need to do a lot of burp and a lot of fart. How you burp? You fart good? You fart a lot?”
Ah… acupuncture and cupping. Why I’m not sick. :D
A recent publication in the prestigious Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology cites the effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Acupuncture was shown to be more effective in reducing regurgitation and heartburn than doubling medication.
Ronnie Fass, MD of the University of Arizona in Tuscon reported that refractory GERD affects up to approximately one-third of patients who take PPIs (proton pump inhibitors). PPIs are pharmaceuticals that inhibit gastric acid production and include brand names such as Prilosec, Lomac, Prevacid, Nexium, and Protonix. Regarding the acupuncture research cited in the publication, Dr. Fass notes that, “This is the first study to suggest that alternative approaches for treating visceral pain may have a role in GERD patients with persistent heartburn despite PPI therapy.” Dr. Fass reported that for the approximately one-third of patients taking PPIs who continue to suffer from GERD, “When compared to doubling the PPI dose (standard of care), adding acupuncture was significantly better in controlling regurgitation and daytime as well as night-time heartburn.”

these little white bottles are probably the most helpful objects ive received in 2012.
what are they? buttloads of compressed flowers and roots that SIGNIFICANTLY decrease my anxiety. many of my symptoms have been lessened and i find decision making much easier without that “boomboomboom” heart thingy. of course this has been paired with conscious food consumption and a big increase in physical activity, so it may be a bit hard to differentiate between the causes of the benefits, but all i need to know is that it works when its all put together.
i dont know much about chinese medicine but noticed that many of the herbs used in these are the main ingredients in medicinal teas, which could be a great way to transition into a more casual intake.
this entry is a bit too “diary” for my tastes but since anxiety consumes 90% of my life, its worth noting when i feel it subside. i actually plan on starting a separate blog to track the process of those emotions in relation to my goals/interests, something with a bit more of an intention than this one. i think it could be helpful to a different demographic than that of the tumblrverse, and a way to expound on my (non-existent) blogging skills.
